Professional Scholarships

After searching for the “perfect” professional development support for our members, last year’s DMA Board came up with one that we think will meet the diverse needs of our members. It is a “scholarship” which reimburses a member for his/her participation in a conference, seminar, class, etc. This is very helpful especially at a time when funds are tight at school sites or departments for staff development.

2007 Scholarship Application

Annual DMA Reimbursement Program Budget $5,000.

Individual member reimbursement: $500 maximum

Applicant must be a DMA member.

Applicant needs to submit:

The completed DMA Reimbursement Application and Reflection form.
A copy of the professional development activity registration.
Evidence of attendance (such as name tag with organization and conference or a certificate of attendance or college transcripts or a list of attendees from the organization).
A copy of the receipt of payment (such as credit card receipt or a canceled check, or an electronic receipt, or a paid invoice).

In the event that the number of completed applications exceeds funds available, applications will be reimbursed in order received.

Members are eligible to receive a one-time reimbursement up to $500 once every three years.

Acceptable programs and professional development include:

ACSA Workshops/conferences/academies, college, university programs.
ASCD workshops.
Professional development that directly impacts your professional growth in instructional leadership, management skills and job-alike knowledge base.

Timelines for applications review and notification:

Professional development reimbursement may be requested up to twelve months after the activity. Completed application packets are due during the application window. Questions can be directed to your DMA representative.
